Today in class we took notes on pages 39-43 in the textbook, sadly I didn't bring my notes home so ill talk about the test. I got a 75/75 on it and i was really happy when I saw my grade. I fully understand the subject of ancient mesopotamia and I hope the knowledge helps me as we learn more in western civilization.

Geography of Egypt- The Nile flows northward across Africa for over 4,100 miles, making it the longest river in the world. Gift of the Nile- Yearly flooding brought rich soil called silt which the Egyptians would pick up before the sun dried it. Environmental challenges- Egyptians were lucky because the Nile was like clockwork on when it would flood as where the Tigris and Euphrates were unpredictable for flooding. Egypt unites into a kingdom farming villages date back to 5,000 B.C. The villages, Upper and Lower Egypt all united around 3,000 B.C. Pharaohs ruled as gods, thought to be from the heavens and as splendid and powerful as one They believed that Kings ruled even after death, eternal life = ka The pyramids were resting places for pharaohs The most important Gods were Re, god of the sun, Osiris god of the dead Royal and high class were embalmed and dryed corpses to prevent from decaying

Today in class we watched a funny video it was about the fertile crescent mesopotamia. We also finished up taking notes on the powerpoint about ancient Mesopotamia. We talked about the great ziggurat of Ur. I am hoping to get a good grade on the quiz because I am going study and I have been paying attention in the classes and taking good notes.

1. for each term write a sentence explaining its significance Fertile Crescent- The fertile crescent was a fertile piece of land between two rivers Mesopotamia- Mesopotamia is the first river valley civilization City-state- City States were the early forms of government and organized territory Dynasty- When a ruler would be in charge for generations as power got passed on Cultural diffusion- spread of the social activities of one culture to different ethnicities, religions, nationalities Polytheism- Belief in any many gods Empire- A nation with a lot power Hammurabi- part of the Babylonian dynasty 3. What were 3 environmental challenges to Sumerian? no natural protection  flooding resources

I was 1 of the only 3 people that had Mr. Schick twice. I got a new seat in the center of the classroom. We talked a out how the class will be and Mr. Schick introduced himself to the new kids. We talked a little but about a flipped classroom, which was the idea that you do homework in class instead of having it to do at home. Today we also set up all the new blogs and I was happy because i didn't have to change mine.

Today we took the test, it was 26 multiple choice questions so that made it easier than I originally thought it would be. After the test was cool because we watched a video to take us to our happy place.

Today in class we finished the movie and took more notes, New Guineas population is 7 million which is a lot higher than I thought it would be. We looked at the country on cia.gov and I thought that was really good to do after finishing the film because when you go back to look at the stats it puts things into perspective
