Five Religion Test

We took the test on the top religions of the world.  The religions were, Christianity Islam Buddhism Hinduism Judaism The test was multiple choice, and out of 50 points. One thing I got mixed up was Buddhism and Hinduism, so that is probably where I got some questions wrong. Besides that I think I did well on the test for the most part.

Class before test

Today in class we finished the slide presentation on the worlds biggest religions. We have a quiz on them tomorrow.  I plan on studying the slides tonight so I will be prepared. I want to get a good grade obviously and this quiz seems like it will be one of the harder ones we've had so far. I think the presentation is well made for the test and I hope the material on it will be mostly from the slides.

test today

We rook the final test on population, migration and population pyramids. I think I did well on this test, there was one or two questions I had to guess on  but for the most part I knew all the information. If I had to guess what I got on the test I'd say I got a 94% just because of the 2 I had to make an educated quess.

Population pyramid and Jeopardy

Today in class we watched the population pyramid video, I understand it a lot more after learning the lesson and I didn't think I would in the beginning. In the video it covers how to tell if a countries falling or rising population. It also shows a countries past, like the baby boom in The United States. You can tell by how there is a rise in population in the 60s.

Test prep

Today we reviewed for our test on Monday, it is on population and settlement.  It is going to be on total fertility rate, rate of natural increase, net migration rate etc. It will also be on population of countries and the world, like how long it took to reach our first 1 billion people. It will also be on how to find if a country's population is rising or falling, the way you would find that is subtracting the death rate by the birth rate.

Presentation Grade

My part in the presentation was population and society. I was the third one to talk. I think my grade should be in the 90s, I knew the information and I had important notes on my slide and a good picture that showed the point I was making. I think the reason I would have got points off is for the actual presentation part. For maybe reading off the slide or not making enough eye contact.

Class Presentation

Today in class we presented our country projects. My group was Germany, my part was Germany's population and society. Our group was the different one, in the way that Germany does not have any major problems at the moment, unlike the other countries presented. I learned things about Germany than I did before be project. I also learned about the other countries that were being covered as well.

Project slide

Population and Society Germany's population growth rate is - 0.17% Their birth rate is 8.6 per 1,000 people and their death rate is 11.8 per 1,000 Germany's population growth rate is - 0.17% Their birth rate is 8.6 per 1,000 people and their death rate is 11.8 per 1,000 people, this means that the population is falling because more people are dying than are being born.  Germany’s population pyramid shows a country with decreasing population with the most of its population being between the ages of 50-54 The total life expectancy is 80.9 years  people, this means that the population is falling because more people are dying than are being born.  Germany’s population pyramid shows a country with decreasing population with the most of its population being between the ages of 50-54 The total life expectancy is 80.9 years

"pop quiz''

Today we went over questions that are going to be on the exam. We went over 37questions and I pretty much knew all of them. This was just a portion of the exam though, the rest of it is about other topics we've learned. The exam is 100+ questions and is going to be taking it for an hour and a half. Another portion is going to be " A message to Garcia '' and I remember how it goes. Class was really fun today and I am happy we did not have the pop quiz.

Yesterdays work

Yesterday in class we had an assignment posted for while we had a sub. It was a lot and I didn't think I would get it done but I worked hard and finished. The assignment was 10 questions, the first 5 were we had to look up 5 different facts using cia.gov and say why we found them interesting and how they relate to what we were learning. The next set of 5 questions we had to find the population pyramids of 5 countries, study them and tell if we thought the population was increasing or decreasing. We then had to go back and check our answer using populationpyramid.net.

Sub work

China's population is 1,384,688,986.          I found this fact interesting because it is such a bigger number compared to The United States population. This relates to what we are talking about because with such a big population, their population pyramid will vary. 42.45% of Nigeria's population is under 14.          I find it interesting that just under half of the population is younger than 15. This relates to what we are learning because I think with a stat like that, then the population pyramid will be very wide at the bottom and continue to get skinnier.  33.15% of Monaco's population is 65 and older.          I find it interesting why the population there is majority older than some of the surrounding countries. This relates to what we are learning because their population pyramid will be more narrow at the bottom and start to expand towards the top. Afghanistan's life expectancy is 52.10.          I find it interesting because I ha

Hans Rosling 200 years in 4 minuets

Today in class we watched a video where Hans Rosling put every countries GDP and life expectancy in a diagram, and showed how each country grew going through 1809 to 2009. I thought it was interesting to see how around the same time the United States declared independence from  England, they went up into the top corner. I still have questions about why it took China so long to get their GDP up despite the population size. I learned that our economy is doing 4x as good as Chinas even though we have roughly the same GDP, it is because China is 4x bigger than us.
