1. direct democracy- the form of government where the people get a direct say without any representatives
   classical art- the values of phidas and other sculptors in that they wanted to portray ideal beauty not realism
   tragedy- a serious drama about common themes such as love, hate, war, or betrayal
   Peloponnesian war- a war fought between 2 city-states, Athens and Sparta
  Philosopher- great thinkers that were determined to find truth
   Socrates - believed that absolute standards did exist for truth and justice
   pluto- A stuent of Socrates, Plato's writings dominated philosphicthoughts in Europe
