The Punic Wars were 3 wars fought between Rome and Carthage, 2 powerful city-states. The first war was for control of Sicily and was a naval battle fought in the Mediterranean Sea. Rome won the war. The second war was 15 years long but Rome finally won. The third war Rome burned Carthage and the people were sold into slavery. Rome became richer after all of the wars. The slaves worked for the rich farmers and Rome gained territory in Africa. The Roman army was unstoppable at that time
